  • smc PENTAX-DA 40 mm F2.8 XS
  • super flat
  • Luminous intensity of F2.8
  • optimized for use with digital cameras
  • Standard lens for universal use
  • corresponds to approx. 60 mm for 35 mm format
  • particularly flat Lens
  • rounded aperture blades for a soft, natural blurring (bokeh effect) of the background
  • SP coating for the front lens

Like the digital system camera "PENTAX K-01" camera, this super flat lens was designed by the world-renowned industrial designer Marc Newson.
Based on the optical calculation of the smc PENTAX-DA 40 mm F2.8 Limited with its history of success, this lens is the world's thinnest* (with a thickness of only 9.2 mm) so-called pancake lens. This size allows a high degree of flexibility during storage or transportation. However, it is not only the small size and low weight that make this lens very successful, but also the PENTAX special fluoride compounds used for the coating of the front lenses, the SP "Super Protect" technology. The front lens is coated with a special coating. This nano technology protects the front lens from dust, fingerprints or greasy residues. If necessary, such impurities can be easily removed.
(* Since April 1, 2012 compared to other interchangeable lenses)
