  • Premium compact camera
  • electronic viewfinder
  • outstanding autofocus performance (0.05 seconds)
  • Continuous shooting at up to 24 frames per second
  • Multi-layer CMOS sensor (1.0 inch) with 20.1 megapixels and DRAM chip
  • ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* Lens with 24 - 70 mm and an aperture of F1.8-2.8
  • 4K videos

ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* Lens for outstanding performance
The large ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* 24 - 70 mm F1.8-2.8 Lens enables wide-angle shots up to 24 mm. The maximum aperture of the telephoto lens has a brightness of F2.8 and enables shots without camera shake and motion blur, as well as photos (e.g. portraits) with beautiful background bokeh. ZEISS T* coating reduces ghosting and light reflections.

Responsiveness thanks to Exmor RS CMOS Sensor
The newly developed multi-layer CMOS image sensor (type 1 inch) with 20.1 megapixels and DRAM chip enables shooting in Super Slow Motion (slow motion) at up to 960 frames per second as well as especially fast shutter times of up to 1/32000 sec. with anti-distortion shutter (anti-distortion function) that cannot be perceived by the human eye. Apart from that, phase-detection autofocus with 315-point focal plane ensures exceptional AF precision and autofocus performance.

BIONZ X for superb details and textures
As the processor responsible for converting light captured by an image sensor into digital images, the RX100 V's BIONZ X is as important as its Lens or sensor. With this camera, the high-speed BIONZ X processor makes it possible to capture photos and video with even more realistic, natural details, as well as richer color gradations and lower image noise.

Wide coverage with 315 autofocus points
With the world's most autofocus points (315) for phase detection in the focal plane, approximately 65% of the entire image area of the newly developed image sensor can be covered. As a result, AF coverage is wide and dense enough to quickly capture subjects, such as especially small or fast-moving objects that are otherwise difficult to focus on, throughout the entire image area.

Autofocus ready in just 0.05 seconds
The fast hybrid autofocus system, consisting of responsive phase-detection AF and incredibly precise contrast-detection AF, now also included for the first time in the RX100 series cameras, responds in just 0.05 seconds to focus on and capture subjects at the moments that matter most to you.

Smoother continuous shooting at up to 24 frames per second
The RX100 V enables high-speed continuous shooting at more than 20 megapixels and up to 24 frames per second with AF/AE tracking. In addition, blackouts on the electronic viewfinder and LCD are reduced, making it easier to watch moving subjects and capture once-in-a-lifetime moments.

Silent shooting for special situations
You can mute the camera's shutter sound by making the following settings on your camera: Shutter Type: Electronic and Audio: Off. This allows you to capture quiet scenes or noise-sensitive subjects even when taking continuous shots.

AF-A mode automatically switches focus modes
In AF-A mode, the camera automatically switches between AF-S mode (single-frame autofocus: locks focus while the shutter button is pressed halfway) and AF-C (permanent autofocus: maintains focus on the subject while the shutter button is pressed halfway), responding to changes such as sudden subject movement or strong light during shooting.

Anti-distortion shutter with a shutter speed of up to 1/32,000 sec.
The anti-distortion shutter with its shutter speed of up to 1/32,000 sec. reduces image distortion caused by rolling shutter effects. Thanks to the extremely fast shutter speed, you can set a wide aperture and capture photos with background blur effects, even in extreme brightness with light levels up to EV 19 .

Brilliant 4K videos
While recording 4K (QFHD resolution: 3840 x 2160) videos with full pixel readout and no pixel binning, the camera collects about 1.7 times more information than is needed for standard 4K video playback. This oversampling ensures images with exceptionally high resolution and fewer moiré effects and image defects.

Fast Hybrid AF for Video Shooting Now Available in RX100 Series
Thanks to the built-in AF sensor with phase detection and focal plane, which ensures precise focusing as well as exceptional focus performance, the fast hybrid AF ensures sharp and brilliant images when shooting high-definition 4K videos .

Photo Capture function creates photos from video footage
Using the Photo Capture function, you can select a moment from a 4K movie playback and save it as a detailed photo file with over 8 megapixels. You can also create a 2-megapixel photo file from an HD video recording in the same way.

Up to double time 960 frames per second Slow Motion
Use the mode dial to select the HFR function to capture fast-moving action in slow motion with great detail. To adapt the recording to the speed of moving subjects, frame rates of 960/1000 frames per second, 480/500 frames per second or 240/250 frames per second (NTSC/PAL) are available. At 240/250 frames per second, image quality is close to Full HD, and HD quality is achieved in Quality Priority mode at 480/500 frames per second. In final release mode, recording starts 4 or 6 seconds before the MOVIE button is pressed, so you can capture all the important moments.

Bright XGA OLED Tru-Finder™ display shows your subjects
Thanks to the retractable Tru-Finder viewfinder's particularly high resolution of 2,359,000 pixels, as well as this display's bright self-illumination and excellent contrast, it's especially easy to preview shots and make appropriate adjustments. The eyepiece cap optics of the electronic viewfinder have been coated with a ZEISS T* coating to prevent unwanted light reflections and ensure a clear view of the entire image.

Setting ring for advanced photo shooting
This is the camera for demanding photographers. For even more creative control, you can manually select shutter speed, aperture, and other professional settings with the convenient control ring on the Lens.

180° tiltable LCD for flexible composition options
The 3.0" high-resolution screen with tilt function is great for selfies as well as framing otherwise impossible bird's-eye or froggy shots. It's great for low or high angle shots and gives you more creativity when framing.

Custom button for easier access to creative options
The custom "C" button can be assigned one of more than 40 functions to customize camera operation to your shooting style. By assigning a frequently used function or setting to this button, you can call it up in an instant. The setting you want is easily accessible for faster, more intuitive operation.

Shoot almost anywhere thanks to the wide ISO range
High sensitivity up to ISO 12,800 enables sharper images in low-light conditions. You can have the auto ISO mode select the most appropriate setting or set the sensitivity manually up to ISO 80. When set to Auto ISO mode, the camera also allows you to set the lower limit for the shutter speed.

Dual shooting function with still image capture during movie recording
Capture still images at 17 megapixels during video recording. The camera allows you to capture high-quality photos even while recording video. Thanks to the automatic double shooting function, the camera can automatically take photos while recording videos. Select the frequency of the automatic double recording function. Available settings are High/Standard/Low.

Brightness Control
The function to optimize the brightness of the image can be assigned to one of the programmable buttons. This makes it easier to access when shooting the starry sky or other dark scenes.

MF Assist and Peaking function allow more precise focusing
Using these functions, you can adjust the focus according to your preference. With manual focus (MF), the area in focus is magnified, allowing for even more precise focusing. With the peaking option, the sharpest area is highlighted in a freely selectable color. This makes it easier to determine if further focusing is needed.

AF focus for better photo opportunities
Simply press the shutter button halfway to activate AF focus. This will automatically adjust the shot size to the size of the subject, increase autofocus performance, and allow you to take full advantage of all photo opportunities.

AF with Eye Detection in AF-C Mode
AF with Eye Detection is now available in AF-C mode on this camera. This means that eyes are automatically focused and tracked when a face moves. This allows you to focus on image composition.

Choose high-quality XAVC S or AVCHD movie recording format
Professional videographers will especially love the XAVC S format, which allows low compression for high-quality movie recording and minimal noise, even with moving subjects. Also available is AVCHD format for easy editing and sharing. This camera uses a 4K codec that allows 4K video recording at up to 100 Mbps and simultaneous shooting of photos in Full HD quality.

Various video functions for professional use
Available video functions include Picture Profile (which allows you to set the character of the movie by changing basic parameters such as chromogenic effects and color gradation), S-Log2 gamma (this setting expands the dynamic shooting range to avoid overexposed bright and underexposed dark areas), TC/UB, Shooting Control, Video Recording, etc.

File Name Setting
This camera model allows you to change the first three characters of each file name from the default "DSC" to three characters of your choice. This makes file management easier and is especially convenient when you are running different jobs with multiple cameras.
