Canon RF lenses - a new benchmark in full-frame photography

With the Canon EOS R camera series, the traditional Japanese manufacturer is making inroads into mirrorless full-frame photography. Not only the cameras with their amazing features are revolutionary, but also the RF lenses, which were created specifically for the new mount of the system.

Since the new lens mount is characterized primarily by its noticeably increased diameter, spectacular lenses with a completely new kind of optical performance are possible.

The net result is that more compact optics can be built with a larger maximum aperture. The highly efficient autofocus system, when used in conjunction with the EOS R cameras, is blazingly fast and outshines many other autofocus systems.

Responsible for this are two linear motors in the optics, which in combination with the Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus achieve previously impossible speeds. A big advantage of the Canon EOS R system is the noticeably quieter operation. On the one hand, this is naturally due to the elimination of the mirror, and on the other hand, it is due to the quiet focusing of the RF lenses. The linear motors focus almost silently, so you can even take pictures at concerts or the opera without being detected.

Canon has lenses for every photographic need. As a lens manufacturer with many years of experience, Canon also does everything it can to cover every focal length in the lenses for the EOS R system. The focus is equally on fast fixed focal lengths and variable zooms. The new connection makes it possible, for example, to offer a zoom lens with focal lengths of 28-70 millimeters, which has an outstanding continuous open aperture of 2.0. This makes it possible to achieve imaging performance similar to that of a fixed focal length. Canon is taking a path with this system that will definitely have a positive influence on photography in the future.
