Two new Canon RF lenses introduced
Canon RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM and RF 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM
After introducing two new cameras from the EOS R series, Canon is now following up with two more RF lenses. With the new 24mm f/1.8 Macro and the 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 come two compact and lightweight lenses with amazing imaging quality.
Canon RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM
The new RF 24mm f/1.8 joins Canon's portfolio of small fixed focal lengths. Dimensions and weight are strongly reminiscent of the RF 35mm f/1.8 Macro. Also with the new 24mm we have a scale of 1:2 and an aperture of f/1.8.
In addition, Canon has built in (as with the RF 35mm) a 5-stop image stabilizer and a very quiet and fast STM autofocus. Due to the fast autofocus and the light weight, the lens is also ideal for video recording, especially for vlogging.
RF 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM
The second new lens is the RF 15-30mm with a maximum open aperture of f/4.5-6.3, a 5.5-stop optical image stabilizer and also a fast and quiet STM autofocus motor. The optical image stabilizer can be combined with EOS R cameras with IBIS for up to 7-stop stabilization.
With a weight of only 390g, fast AF and compact body, it is not only suitable for photographers, but also for filming. Moreover, with a low closest focusing distance at 15mm, it also offers a macro scale of up to 1:2.
